A little while ago in semiconductor device class

Student: “Germanium has better characteristics as a semiconductor compared to silicon. So why are we still using silicon?”

Professor: “It’s just like choosing a wife. You can either marry a supermodel, or an ordinary girl whom you can be happy with for the rest of your life. Germanium is that supermodel, while silicon is that ordinary girl. Silicon is easy to process, cheap, and has a lot of functionality”

What an analogy
