Last night I watched the avengers here in South Korea. The good thing is, they simply put a subtitle on it instead of dubbing it. Can you imagine Hulk speaking in the same manner as a korean boyband member?
The plot can be summarized as a group of Marvel’s superheroes band together to fight alien forces threatening the earth. Or in this case USA, since somehow the aliens always target them first. The Avengers is composed of Hulk, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Iron Man, and Thor. Of all the movies, I only watched Iron Man and Thor. I think the movie would be far more enjoyable if you watched all the other movies first.
The movie itself is enjoyable. You get the right dose of action and humor, along with some story plot here and there. It’s pretty cool to see the superheroes fighting together as one, and the visual effects are great. One of the problem for me is that there’s no english subtitle, so it’s kinda hard for me to catch on with the plot. But that’s more of a local issue, not a problem with the movie itself.
As for how the story goes, it’s a typical superhero movie plot. Good guys met with each other because of a certain threat but they don’t get along well. Something bad happened, and they regret not uniting earlier. And then they put aside their difference to fight as a team. Then they confront the main antagonist of the movie. The final battle is also typical. Citizens are threatened, the heroes suddenly come and beat up all the bad guys, until suddenly they’re overpowered and on the verge of losing. Then some solution shows up requiring some kind of sacrifice from the heroes’ side. And at the end of the day it turns out that everyone’s safe. And some hint of a sequel is made.
So my thought on this movie is, it’s a superhero action movie, with a decent storyline and cool action scenes. It’s meant to be enjoyed, but don’t expect anything thought provoking.
